Electrical Installation & Inspection – Terms & Conditions

1. General

1.1 These Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) apply to all electrical installation and inspection works carried out by the Contractor.

1.2 By accepting a quotation, proposal, or commencing works, the Client agrees to be bound by these T&Cs.

1.3 No variation to these T&Cs will be valid unless agreed in writing by both parties.

2. Legal & Regulatory Compliance

2.1 All works will be carried out in accordance with:

– BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition).

– Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

– Building Regulations (Part P where applicable).

– Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

2.2 Marches Electrical Limited is registered with approved Competent Person Scheme NAPIT and will notify works to Building Control where required.

3. Contractor Obligations

3.1 Marches Electrical Limited shall carry out works with reasonable care, skill, and diligence.

3.2 All operatives will be suitably qualified and competent.

3.3 Marches Electrical Limited will provide appropriate insurance cover (public liability and, if applicable, employer’s liability).

3.4 Marches Electrical Limited will issue the relevant certification EIC, MEC, EICR upon completion of works if requested.

3.5 Defects in workmanship reported within 28 days will be rectified free of charge, provided they arise from the Marches Electrical Limited work and not misuse, alteration, or interference by others.

4. Client Obligations

4.1 The Client shall provide safe, clear, and reasonable access to the premises during agreed working hours.

4.2 The Client shall inform the Contractor of any known hazards or special site conditions (e.g. asbestos, concealed wiring, fragile structures).

4.3 The Client shall be responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions, consents, or approvals (e.g. landlord, planning, listed building consent).

4.4 The Client must ensure that all circuits and equipment to be inspected are available, accessible, and can be safely isolated.

4.5 The Client agrees not to interfere with or permit third parties to modify the installation during the Contractor’s works.

5. Scope of Works

5.1 The works will be carried out as described in the agreed quotation/proposal.

5.2 Any variations or additional works requested by the Client shall be charged at agreed rates and confirmed in writing.

5.3 Unless explicitly included, the following are excluded:

– The tracing or repair of hidden faults.

– The movement of furniture, floor coverings, or structural works.

– Testing of client-owned appliances unless PAT testing has been specified.

6. Testing, Certification & Limitations

6.1 All new works will be tested in accordance with BS 7671 and certified appropriately.

6.2 For inspections (EICRs), the report reflects the condition of the installation at the time of testing only.

6.3 Hidden, inaccessible, or buried cables/components will not be inspected unless agreed and detailed.

6.4 No guarantee is given that remedial works identified in an inspection will be included within the inspection fee.

7. Health, Safety & Environment

7.1 Both parties shall comply with applicable health and safety requirements.

7.2 Marches Electrical Limited will carry out risk assessments and use appropriate PPE.

7.3 The Client must ensure a safe working environment and notify the Marches Electrical Limited of any hazards.

7.4 Waste materials will be disposed of in line with WEEE and environmental regulations.

8. Commercial Terms

8.1 Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

8.2 Payment terms are as agreed in the quotation. Unless otherwise stated, payment is due within 14 days of invoice.

8.3 Marches Electrical limited reserves the right to charge interest on overdue sums under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.

8.4 Title to goods and materials supplied remains with Marches Electrical Limited until paid for in full.

9. Liability

9.1 Marches Electrical Limited liability is limited to the reasonable cost of rectifying defects in their own work.

9.2 Marches Electrical Limited is not liable for consequential or indirect losses (e.g. business interruption, data loss, or loss of earnings).

9.3 No liability is accepted for pre-existing faults or for alterations made by third parties.

9.4 Nothing in these T&Cs limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Cancellation & Termination

10.1 Either party may cancel the contract by giving written notice before works commence.

10.2 If the Client cancels after works have commenced, they shall be liable for costs incurred up to the date of cancellation.

10.3 Marches Electrical Limited may suspend or terminate works where health and safety risks, non-payment, or Client breach of obligations occur.

11. Dispute Resolution

11.1 Any complaint should be raised in writing with Marches Electrical Limited in the first instance.

11.2 If unresolved, the Client may escalate the complaint through Marches Electrical Limited registration body.

11.3 These T&Cs are governed by the laws of England and Wales (or Scotland if applicable).
